The Hybrid Foundation:

Taking the confusion out of getting started

    Become the Complete Athlete

The Hybrid Foundation is designed to give you the best start to your Hybrid Training. It’s the most common problem with this type of training - how on earth do you get started? I’ve created this training to specifically solve this problem. it doesn’t matter if you come from a purely strength background, or from a purely endurance based background. Your Hybrid Foundation phase will be tailored to turn you into the most complete athlete possible.

    Build & Maintain Strength

Over the course of the Foundation you’ll build and maintain generalised, full body strength that is based around the 3 main lifts of Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. Having this strength base will then allow you the flexibility to push into many other areas of the strength training world.

    Build & Maintain Endurance

During your Hybrid Foundation, we will have a core focus on getting you to become a better runner - avoiding many of the mistakes that new runners make. The focus is on building your aerobic base and running economy, with a view to building on this in your next phase of training. Depending on your ability/preferences, we aim to build you up to completing either a fast 5km, 10km or even half marathon event (road or trail) by the end of this phase.

Take the confusion out of getting started…

Every budding Hybrid Athlete I speak to asks the same question - how do I get started?

The answer I always have to give, is "it depends”.

Annoying, I know, because if it was as straight forward as being able to create a programme and put it all in a single document, then I would have done it by now!

Your first few months as a Hybrid Athlete should be entirely based around what background you are entering from.

This is why there is no one of way of doing things, and why I choose to actively coach each new Hybrid Athlete through their first months of Hybrid life.

The aim of the Hybrid Foundation is to turn you into a more “complete” athlete.

For example, the biggest problem that strength athletes have when turning Hybrid, is that they often lack an aerobic base, and really struggle to understand any programming around running and how to get the most out those training sessions.

And vice versa, many endurance athletes don’t really understand what strength training actually is.

I’ve designed the Hybrid Foundation to tick the major boxes that need to be, early on in your Hybrid Training, so I can help to bring you up to speed with what you need to work on, whether it's strength or endurance.

My aim is to educate you as much as possible over this crucial time, so that you don’t end up with this stop/start approach that most people end up doing with their Hybrid programming.

If you’re still reading by this point, then it’s likely you’re very interested in giving this a go and speaking to me in person about it - so head to one of the buttons on the page, find a day & time that suits you, and we’ll talk about how it all works and what the best approach for you is going to be.

So what do I get with the Hybrid Foundation?

Expert Hybrid Training

The bedrock of turning you into a Hybrid Athlete is understanding how to combine strength & endurance capabilities in a way that is sustainable for you over the long term.

The Hybrid Foundation training phase is designed to meet you where you are currently at, to make sure you develop your strength & endurance concurrently. You will have your very own “Test Week” where you and other candidates will demonstrate your success with a full SBD powerlifting  total and either a 21km, 30km, 42km or 50km trail run.

Hybrid Nutrition

Nutrition is an area that can make or break your training outcomes, and everyone we work with has their own bespoke “nutritional overview” document created by an MNU Qualified Nutritionist.

We also equip you with the knowledge of how to strategically fuel yourself properly for ultra endurance events, including how to prepare, execute and recover. This will be practised on simulation events in your training in the build up to test week.

We like to place a big emphasis on helping you manage your training, nutrition and recovery around your life.

Unrivalled Coaching & Support

This isn’t a group coaching programme. You’re all on the same team, but coached individually & at your own level.

Coaching is at the heart of what we do – as a coaching company, we wouldn’t be doing our job properly if you didn’t feel like you were supported through this process.

That’s why we have the 1:1 Coaching support throughout your time on the Hybrid Foundation to make sure you are succeeding, with daily contact and in person individual coaching calls. And, unlike some online coaching companies, we cap our coaching slots to 50 clients at any one time, meaning you get our complete attention.

Don’t just take our word for it…
